I've used Avast Secureline for the last year but am thinking about going with Surfshark for the new year. Anyone use it? Positives? Negatives?

I very smugly sat down to listen to the Ashes on a boat to Greenland last year, delighted in the knowledge that my paid-for VPN would easily dance round the Beeb's defences. I was wrong - I can't believe how hot they are on it when the likes of Sky can't/don't stop it.

PeacockTV (showing tonight's game) currently isn't working with PureVPN for me. I get an error message telling me Peacock doesn't allow connections via a VPN. Hopefully Peacock can fix this soon. In the meantime I have another VPN service that is still working.

My ISP couldn't give a shit about what I do. I've never had any threatening letters, and I'm probably a heavy streamer/downloader (leech). Added to that, I literally couldn't give a toss if anyone knew what I was doing. It's only what your average internet user does, most likely.
The only use I'd gain would be getting the US version of Netflix. But if it's on there, then they'll be a torrent of it out there somewhere I can get.

The thing is, you are generally correct.
However, if you have the right software, your device can still be located as close as the nearest metre.
Company's like SKY, BT, etc have this but generally do not use because it is very time consuming

I've just paid £50 for five years of PureVPN. It works as a Chrome extension and as a standalone application. It's also an Android and iOS app.

Hi Texas,
It means virtual private network. Normally when you use the internet you are given an address (called an IP address which looks something like this 10.133.254.96) so everyone on the internet knows where you are. If you use a vpn you get given a dummy address so everyone on the internet thinks you're somewhere else. This stops people tracing you and let's you watch content not available in uk. So for example if you wanted to watch something only available in US you would select a VPN server in the US which would give you a US address.

Surfshark is ok, but a paid one line Express VPN would perform better.
